While growing up as a child, I owned several types of animals as pets. I’ve had two dogs, a hamster, and several goldfish that did not last very long. But probably my favourite pet when I was a kid was my little rabbit who proved to be very easy to take care of, even for a small child. Since my first rabbit, I’ve come to own several others and I’m now convinced that they make the greatest pets in the world. Of course dogs and cats might be more popular choices, but you can never go wrong with a rabbit. If you are looking to get a pet as an addition to your family, here are some reasons why a rabbit is the perfect choice.
1. A pet rabbit is a social animal that loves to be played with, and there’s nothing more adorable than seeing a pet rabbit curled up in your lap. Each rabbit will have its own distinct personality, and while some might prefer to be left alone more often than not, they usually love the company of humans.
2. A pet rabbit might not be able to exhibit as many personal character traits as a cat or a dog but you will certainly be able to tell if it is happy or not. There’s nothing more delightful than filling up its bowl full of food and watching it jump with anticipation. They also can’t help but show their joy when you give them the freedom to jump and hop as they please.
3. Indoor rabbit cages are fairly easy to maintain as long as you have the discipline to clean them on a regular basis. This is a perfect way to teach a child about the responsibility of owning a pet. In general, rabbit cages are very easy to clean as long as you do it each and every day.
4. While rabbits can eat anything, and they certainly will if you give them the chance, it is fairly easy to come up with a regular feeding routine. Once you have determined your pet’s favourite food it will be easy to keep up with its feeding.
5. Rabbits don’t create much fuss at all, and they have very kind demeanours. They are very gentle and they appreciate it when you treat them as such. So if you’re looking for a pet that is both quiet and loyal, a rabbit will be able to return as much love as you give it.
