Collecting Lego Minifigs People

in Collecting & Collections

The best way to start collecting Lego minifigs is to narrow down the scope of your collection. You may wish to start with Lego People (they are actually called minifigures!) or with, say, the Star Wars Lego line. Or even you may want to focus first on vintage pieces. The choices are pretty endless so pick something you like, that makes it much more interesting for you. I suggest it is best to focus on a certain Lego line to avoid losing your momentum. It’s like setting a goal for yourself. And at the moment my fav are the Star Wars Lego minifigs.

One of the popular genres to collect is the Star Wars Lego sets. There are approximately 140 different sets of them as I write this. You can buy the kits from the Lego stores and from auction sites such as eBay. The Star Wars Lego Minifigs characters such as Darth Vader, C3PO, Han Solo, Master Yoda and others are also sold separately although most of them are already included in the set.

A big hint to beginners when buying from eBay, it is best if you could check some Star Wars Lego website beforehand to avoid missing on some elements. There are Lego Minifigs Jedis, for example, that are sold without the light saber. Always make sure that you are getting the value for your money.

You can easily find Star Wars custom minifigures pieces in auction sites as well. Customs are pieces that are modified by Lego enthusiasts themselves to create a whole new character for their collection. However, you should separate customs from original ones.

Custom Lego Minifigs should not be of the same price as the original ones. Take care that you know are buying a custom (because some are really cool) and not thinking it is a genuine Star Wars Lego mini figure. You should avoid them at all cost if you intend to buy the real ones. Remember that the value of your collection lies in its authenticity. You can find out if the pieces are real or fake by getting the advice of long-time collectors who know their Legos well.
