Essential Features To Look For In A Water Vacuum

in Small Appliances

Many people, especially allergy sufferers, appreciate it when there are alternatives to traditional cleaning solutions that do a better job of getting rid of dirt and allergens.  In the vacuum world, the traditional solution is of course the cleaner that uses a bag to trap dirt particles, stored for later emptying into the garbage.  The alternative is the water vacuum cleaner, eschewing the bag for a tank of water that seals the contaminants away under the surface.  The reason this is preferable to the traditional vacuum is that it kicks up far fewer dirt particles and allergens, getting your surfaces cleaner for a longer period of time.

If you think a water vacuum might be a good solution for you, I’d like to take a minute to point out some indispensable features that you shouldn’t be without:

  1. Consider getting a water vacuum with a large tank.  These units tend to be unwieldy like other heavy appliances such as a steam cleaner pressure washer.  Like any of these hard to move devices, it is far better to buy one that you can use for a long time without needing to perform maintenance.
  2. Additionally, find a vacuum that features a long, flexible cleaning hose.  Going back to the issue of mobility, you definitely don’t want a cleaner that you need to pick up or hold while your’re cleaning in order to get to tough to reach spots.
  3. Last, be sure to look for a product which features HEPA filters.  HEPA specializes in researching and creating air filters, having made a very respected name for themselves in the industry.  You will definitely want to take advantage of all the money and research that goes into these products, so look for that HEPA logo on the box before buying!

There are certainly some other considerations to keep in mind, but the above three will surely get you well on your way to shopping in a more savvy way, asking the right questions of sales people and having a better understanding of what makes a great water vacuum.  As long as you consider the places where you want to clean as well as your own limitations such as lifting ability and potential back problems, it’s very unlikely that you will choose something that you’ll end up regretting later.  Of course, you should always keep the receipt around and make sure you understand how many days that you have to try it.  Most of the time, there is a standard time limit of 15 days for any consumer to evaluate a product.
