Green Juices

Vegetables are abundant in a variety of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytochemicals – substances that help protect us from cancer. As new research studies are consistently finding new healthy substances in vegetables, it is clear that a supplement cannot house such a plethora of nutrients. Making juicing recipes and rotating the vegetables used is a sure fire way of ensuring you are meeting many of your nutritional needs and more!

Green juice recipes are cleansing, help clear the body of toxins and have a rejuvenating effect. Created from a variety of green vegetables, green juices are abundant in chlorophyll, an antioxidant that has a purifying effect on the blood, helps to aid in the synthesis of red blood cells, heals and detoxifies the body and can produce a fast source of energy to the body.

Some of the main green vegetables used to make green juice include cabbage, kale, spinach, dandelion greens, barley grass, alfalfa sprouts and wheat grass. Green juices are bitter to the taste so adding carrots or apples to the juice is a common way to help add sweetness and increase palatability.

Green Juice Recipe
4 carrots
handful of spinach
3 sprigs of fresh parsley
handful of kale
1 beet including greens
1 clove of garlic – peeled
1/4 head of cabbage

Wash vegetables thoroughly, juice, enjoy! It is recommended to peel the beets and carrots if they are not organic, this helps to reduce the amount of pesticides in this green juice.

Vegetable Juices
Fresh homemade vegetable juice recipes help to build, repair and restore our cells and body. They clear acid wastes out of the body, aid the immune system and aid in metabolic functions. Vegetable juices can also help remove excess body fat and are therefore a good addition to any diet program.

Some of the most nutritious and commonly used vegetables for juicing include cabbage, carrot, celery, cucumber, kale, parsley, watercress, beet, turnip and wheatgrass. Carrot juicing recipes is the most popular of juices. It is a fantastic source of antioxidants called carotenoids such as beta-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin that can help protect us from developing cancer. Beta-carotene has also been shown in research to greatly reduce the risk of heart attacks in the elderly. Carrot juice is a sweet vegetable that is delicious just by itself and is often added to other vegetable juices to sweeten them.
