How To get Beagle Puppies To Stop Crying At Night

in Pets

The first few nights in their new home can be quite scary for any new puppy. Like most puppies, beagle puppies are prone to this behavior simply because they are frightened by their new surroundings.  How long the crying will last is really up to you. Your beagle puppy’s adjustment period can be a long drawn out process or it can take only a few nights if you are consistent and firm with your pups. Our beagle puppies cried for about for a week straight before they were accustomed to their new home. Crate training your beagle puppies from day one is a great way to help them adjust to their new environment and it will also stop them from crying at night.

Because most puppies are born into large litters they are used to the comfort of their siblings. Their mother’s constant heartbeat is also very comforting to puppies. It makes them feel relaxed which in turn helps them sleep.  One of the most traumatic experiences for a puppy is being separated from their siblings. Unfortunately this is especially evident at night a puppy is alone. One thing that is for sure about beagle puppies is that they love to cuddle! We brought two beagle pups home at the same time and they really helped each other settle in to their new home. They would snuggle close together in their crate and after about a week they were quiet at night. Their being together at night really helped with the crying at night.

If you are not interested in getting two beagle puppies it is still a very good idea to get your new puppy a crate to sleep in at night. A crate will also come in handy if you are going to be out for an extended period of time. “Crate” is just another term for dog cage. Your pup’s crate will become their home. They will safe inside their crate and this is something that will definitely help with their crying at night. Crate training your beagle puppies will also instill a sense of independence and this is something that will make your life a lot easier in the long run.

Your beagle puppies may not be thrilled with their new home at first. They are used to having the comfort of their siblings and being all alone in a large dog house might be a little lonely. If you only have one beagle puppy you may want to consider getting some type of stuffed animal to put in the crate with them. The stuffed animal will take the place of their siblings and it may help them feel more comfortable at night. If your puppies tear the stuffed animal apart or they start using it as a toilet, you‘ll probably want to remove it. Tearing something apart or urinating on an object is a sign of dominance. In reality this is your puppy’s way of telling you, “get this thing out of here.”
