Whether you’re the proud owner of a new, smallish website or of a long-standing online business, you can make money with Google. There are several ways that Google can help you to use your website in increasing revenue. Here are a few ideas:
Google Adwords
This program allows you to use Google to advertise your website. You ask Google to post ads with links to your site, which Google happily obliges to do. You will have to pay a small fee for every time someone clicks on an ad, but every time that happens, you know someone’s just visited your site. If you’re an online business, that may mean you’re making a sale off of the transaction. It’s kind of like posting your ad in the paper; if it gets your name out there, it’s worth the fee.
Google Adsense
Remember that last paragraph about Google’s Adwords program? That was a great idea, wasn’t it? Well, what if you could do exactly what Google’s doing and gets paid every time somebody else’s website got a viewer? Adsense is almost the exact opposite of the Adwords program: in order to increase their ad space, Google will farm out some of those ads to your website so your viewers will see the ads. More exposure equals more visits, which means Google gets paid more for the advertising. It also means you get to enjoy a cut.
Another advantage of Adsense is the ability to pick and choose a target audience: if you’ve got a website devoted to finance, you can ask Google to post only ads related to that topic. That way, your viewers are more likely to click on the links, and less likely to be irritated by the ads.
You can also submit your website for Google to list in its search results. This process can take some time, however, and probably isn’t the best way to get your name out there. If your site can get a lot of links to it, Google will probably find it without your submitting the site, but it can’t hurt you. And while you’re waiting for Google to post your site, you can work on getting yourself linked to other pages to increase your viewers.
