Practical Uses For Laminating Sheets

in Office & School Supplies

There are many different things you can use laminating sheets for around the home. They are also great to have on hand if you run a small business, and to keep in your home office.

General Home Use: It is important to protect your important papers such as birth certificates, insurance cards, or any other paperwork that does not come already laminated. Laminating these items ensures that they will stay in good shape for many years (If you live in the United States, you should not laminate your social security card.) They are also often used to protect favorite pictures from fading and to stop them becoming creased while they are stored. Other things often laminated include small recipe cards that are kept in the kitchen and signs that you use around your home. Many people also like to laminate their paperbacks so that they last well and the covers do not crease.

Home Office or Small Business Use: If you are concerned that important papers, contracts or other items may become creased and illegible in part, you may want to laminate these items before you store them in your briefcase or office desk. Laminating office or business rules and guidelines, and any signs you post around your office, also keeps these documents from wear and tear.

Home Schooling: There are many practical uses for laminating sheets when it comes to home schooling. If you are a home schooling parent you will most likely want to protect and preserve any teaching aids you make, as well as any reading flashcards or math flash cards. While some items you buy for your homeschooling may already be laminated, many are not.

Fortunately, it is very simple to laminate items. Most sheets have a grid design on the backing paper, which makes lining up the paper and trimming it very easy. Backing is designed to peel off easily and the sheets themselves are an easily manageable size. Many people swear that laminate sheets work just as well as professional laminating machines, and of course it is much cheaper to laminate items yourself.
