Shopping for plastic storage boxes may sound simple, but the sheer number of stores and websites that well them means that, by spending a little bit of time comparing options, you can save a lot of money and find everything that you need.
The fastest way to shop today is the internet, and so I always suggest beginning by searching there. If you’re looking for the standard plastic storage boxes with lids, for example, you’ll immediately come up with the obvious stores, like Amazon, or Walmart, or Office Depot, all of which will suit the general needs of most people. So from there it’s simply a matter of finding which store offers the best deal. Amazon tends to offer small discounts on most of their items, whereas Walmart changes their sales often. So either way, you’re getting a break on the general price.
If you’re looking for something a little more specialized, websites are also the way to go. Clamshell boxes, which are the kinds that computer ink and other small electronic items like that come in, are easy to get custom built, or just bought in bulk. This is much more of a niche, but if you have need for containers like that, then you’re in luck there!
There are also larger stores, which give you the benefit of being able to look at the products right off the bat, but do not often offer the sales online. But you can go to a specialty store like The Container Store, and have hundreds of options right in front of you. If you can’t find something that will suit you in that kind of selection, then custom built is probably the way to go after all. So it would be back online you go in that case. But specialty stores often have employees that are genuinely passionate about what they sell, even plastic storage boxes, so keep that in mind.
Finally, you can always simply go to a place like Target or Walmart (the building, not the website). These places have a much lower selection, and I’d only recommend them for people who just need very general boxes.
