The answer is simple… when it is an Easter bucket. The Easter Bunny is getting more and more creative. Young children usually enjoy their Easter baskets for a day. After they have eaten the chocolate bunny and the creme filled eggs, the basket usually loses it charm. However, a sand pail holds it usefulness for the entire summer for many children.
Now is a great time to purchase these small buckets. It is the end of the season and most stores that carry children’s toys have the small buckets on sale. Grab a few and some spray paint. Be sure to purchase the spray paint that is for metal so there will be little flaking or peeling.
A month or so before Easter engage the children in a project. Have them either paint or put decals on the sand bucket. It is a great family project that young children will enjoy. In fact, get the whole family involved. Let each family member choose his or her favorite colors and start painting.
The night before Easter set the newly painted and decorated buckets out in a special place. There should be a bucket for each family member. Chances are, magically, the Easter Bunny will appear during the night and fill each of the buckets with goodies. What a wonderful suprise for the little ones and the older kids on Easter morning.
They can even carry their buckets on Easter egg hunts. When summer arrives they will enjoy digging in the sand and filling these special little buckets. Maybe they will even want to repaint and decorate the bucket for the next Easter. At the very least, the younger children will enjoy the project and the rewards.
