Samsung is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 on a global scale during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 26.
This is the first time that Samsung has chosen Seoul as the host city. Alongside the foldable smartphones, the South Korean tech giant is also expected to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Several reports, including leaked design renders, have already given us a glimpse of what to anticipate from the successors of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Excitement is building as tech enthusiasts eagerly await the latest innovations from Samsung's foldable lineup.
After the launch of these two foldable handsets on July 26, the preorders for the handsets are also expected to open on the same day, and it is likely that the phones will go on sale in India starting from August 14.
The leaked images validate previous rumors about the Galaxy Z Flip 5, indicating that it will indeed feature a larger external display, a characteristic that resembles the design of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra/ Plus. The images also give us a glimpse of the color options available, which include green, black, pink, and cream. The frame is expected to have a metallic finish, while the back is likely to be made of glass.
What are the features?
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is set to enhance its external camera setup, potentially making it more versatile for video recording and capturing still images. Additionally, users can expect a front-facing camera on the main display for selfies.
The images of this exclusive phone tease a compact build and may continue to offer a 6.7-inch display on the inside, which is different from the 6.9-inch screen in Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. The external display of these foldable may measure around 3.4 inches, smaller than the 3.6-inch cover display of the Motorola Razr 40.
According to Blass's tweets, it is indicated that the entry-level model of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could come with 256GB of storage, while the higher-end variant may offer a more generous 512GB of internal memory. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is rumored to provide an impressive 1TB of storage capacity.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip 5's battery, it is speculated to be around 3,700mAh and could potentially support 25W charging. It's worth noting that Samsung has decided to exclude the charging brick from the package. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, ensuring enhanced performance and efficiency.
What will be the prices?
Earlier this week, a leak offered the details about the prices of these phones.
The prices of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip may start at Rs. 1,09,830 for its base 256 GB variant. To recall, the predecessor of this phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 was announced in India for Rs 89,999 for its 128 GB variant and Rs 94,999 for its 256 GB variant.
It will be intriguing to observe if Samsung maintains the starting price while providing a higher storage option. This strategic move could potentially give Samsung an advantage, especially considering that competitors like Motorola and Oppo offer their Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and Oppo Find N2 Flip smartphones at the same starting price but with 256GB storage. Samsung's extensive experience in the folding smartphone domain may instill greater confidence and trust among customers, further bolstering its position in the market.
